What’s Happened During the Campaign?

The UK’s election campaign has been full of surprises. In the lead-up to the vote, we’ve seen several high-profile scandals and shakeups. We’ve seen a major terror attack during the campaign, the Brexit vote is set for an earlier date than expected, and members of Parliament resigning. Finally, we’ve also seen candidates from smaller parties rise in popularity.

The Prime Minister originally called for elections on June 18th. However, he moved it up to Thursday, June 23rd, after a significant terrorist attack in London. The Brexit vote is now scheduled for Friday, July 15th – two years earlier than expected! During this time frame, candidates will be campaigning and voting on whether or not they want to remain a part of the EU.

We’ve seen the rise of candidates from smaller parties in this election, including UKIP and The Green Party. While these are not significant contenders for winning seats, they have significantly impacted how campaigning is being done. Well, it means that there’s still plenty to be surprised about in this election. We’re in for a rollercoaster ride, but at the end of it all, we’ll have our next Prime Minister.

When Do We Get the Results?

The UK’s election results will be announced on Friday, June 24th. We’ll have a complete list of who has won and lost each constituency. Stay tuned – it’s going to be an exciting night.
